There have been several cases of women who went in a sauna (regular or infrared) shortly after finishing their macrobid prescription, and within a few days of the sauna they developed severe reaction symptoms from the drug. It seems like the heat somehow becomes more damaging with heat, or maybe pushes the drug deeper into tissues causing more damage. I am not a doctor, so I am just guessing as to why heat could cause the drug to become so damaging, but if you have to take macrobid (nitrofurantoin) it might be wise to avoid saunas or overheating yourself for at least a month after taking macrobid.
Nitrofurantoin reactions can be long lasting and affect the lungs and nerves, so be careful if you have to take it. |
