| wish i found this site before i ended up in hospital. i have been so ill for so long i dont know what it is like to be well anymore. i have been to my g.p. so many times and was only told to take vitamin b12 tablets. noone seems to believe how seriously ill i am because all tests seem unable to find the cause. all i take is 100mg of macrodantin daily and was told 2 years ago no side affects would appear and i should take it for the rest of my life upping the dose if i felt the onset of kidney infection coming on to upto 4 tabs per day which i have done occasionaly. i thought it was the miracle cure for me. my health has gotton gradually worse for months to the point where i no longer can manage any daily activities. i have tingling, numbness and blue colouration to my hands feet and tongue, the most severe head pain and pressure , light headedness blurred vision, palpitations, tiredness, forgetfullness, confusion,poor concentration, swaying feeling and finally passing out . too many symptoms to mention which finally got me taken to a&e. have seen so many doctors and tests and finally a specialist was called in and got me to do some simple things to simulate a bad turn and diagnosed me taking away my macrodantin tablets saying i could go home and hope for a slow but full recovery. just came home and feel as bad as ever but she showed me a few techniques to help myself mainly breathing into a paper bag when things are bad which works well for me. i hope there is no long term damage to me as i have consumed a lot of these tablets over time. its good to know i am not alone |

I am so sorry to hear about what happened to you. I know how frustrating it is to be feeling so horrible, yet all of the tests that the doctors run on you show up as normal. The same thing happened to me. If you've read most of the other posts, you'll know that I was really bad too. I had extreme exhaustion, dizziness, head pressure, tingling, stabbing pains, numbness, shortness of breath, pain in my right side, flushed face and more.
Hang in there! It does take a frustratingly long time to recover. It took me 3-6 months to get over the worst of the symptoms, and a full year to start to feel like myself again. So try not to get too discouraged if it takes a long time. You might find that you start to get worse sometimes. I had major setbacks where all of my symptoms would come back almost as bad as they were in the beginning. Then I realized that it was directly related to my period. Just before my period I would get much worse. It would last for my period, but then afterwards, I would be back on the upswing, getting better slowly. If you read my other posts, you would have read that I focused on providing my body with all of the building blocks it needs to recover. I ate really well, making sure I got enough protein; lots of fruits and vegetable; lots of foods with vitamin e and selenium in it;
When you start to get some energy, start slowly at getting some moderate exercise. I read a study that showed that exercise helped people who had nerve related problems from prescription drugs to recover more fully. At the beginning I could only ride the exercise bike for 10 minutes before I was exhausted. But I slowly increased to more and more as I was able. It's not good to overdo it. Just listen to your body.
Anyways, you've probably already read this in my other posts. Let us know how you are doing. Post anytime with questions or updates. Hang in there! Take care |
